In Bob we Trust

Bobfest 2009
A Coowonga Folk Club Production
What was it? A tribute to the music of Bob Dylan featuring 68 songs- one for every year of his Bobness’ still rollin’ life.
Where was it? The location iwas the Fitzroy Motor Boat Club in Rocky on the Riverbank.
When was it? The day before Bob’s Birthday- Saturday 23 May 5pm to 11pm
Who was involved? Eleven local Acts doing an average of about 6 songs each. A mix of artists doing both acoustic and electric Bob from across the years
Who came? Everyone with good taste in music- they were all there!!!!!!!!!!
Why do it? All For The Love of Bob- Because we can, and because Bob does: In the spirit of Bob’s never ending tour and love of live performance we salute him and you!

I was surprised to learn that some of my favourite songs by other artists were in fact written by Bob. I could rave for ages about the great renditions from the very talented local artists but since they were all so good it would not be fair to highlight any single performance. I lost count of how many songs were actually performed but By my reckonning there was around seventy songs. Take out the two that were repeated and I would say “mission accomplished.”
If you missed this show, make sure you watch out for the next themed event from your folk music club. You can visit the Coowonga Folk Club web site for up to date information on upcoming events. The next music event is 13 June at the Carrawal recreation grounds.
